Description

A quick and delicious baked salmon recipe topped with a creamy lemon sauce made from Greek yogurt and herbs, perfect for a nutritious weeknight dinner ready in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 1 lb Salmon filet (approx. 1 lb)
  • Salt and pepper, as desired
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic powder (for seasoning)

Creamy Lemon Sauce

  • ½ cup Plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 Tbsp Butter
  • 1 tsp Dried thyme
  • 2 Tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 Tbsp Green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Season Salmon: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Rinse the salmon filet under cold water and pat dry thoroughly with paper towels. Season both sides of the salmon with salt, pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, ensuring even coverage.
  2. Bake the Salmon: Place the seasoned salmon on a baking sheet lined with parchment or foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the salmon is opaque, flakes easily with a fork, and is cooked through.
  3. Prepare the Creamy Lemon Sauce: While the salmon bakes, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a small pot over medium heat. Once melted, remove from heat and whisk in ½ cup Greek yogurt, 1 teaspoon dried thyme, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and pepper to taste until smooth and well combined.
  4. Serve: When the salmon is done, remove from the oven and transfer to serving plates. Drizzle the creamy lemon sauce evenly over the salmon fillets. Garnish with sliced green onions for a fresh, flavorful finish. Serve immediately for best taste.

Notes

  • You can substitute fresh thyme for dried thyme if preferred, use 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves.
  • If you like a zestier sauce, add lemon zest along with the lemon juice.
  • Ensure not to overcook salmon to keep it moist and tender.
  • Greek yogurt provides a healthier alternative to cream without losing creaminess.
  • Use fresh green onions or scallions for garnish to enhance flavor and presentation.
