Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 2 cups sour cream (substitute with Greek yogurt for a lighter version)
- 1 packet (1 oz) dry ranch seasoning mix (use homemade mix if preferred)
- 1 can (10 oz) Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies (can substitute with fresh diced tomatoes and jalapeños)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (swap for Monterey Jack for a milder flavor)
- 6 slices cooked bacon (use bacon bits for convenience or omit for vegetarian option)
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (can replace with chives)
- 1 tablespoon chopped jalapeños (optional; adjust based on spice preference)
Instructions
- Cook Bacon: Cook 6 slices of bacon in a skillet over medium heat for 8-10 minutes until crispy. Remove from heat, let cool, and crumble into small pieces.
- Mix Sour Cream and Ranch: In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of sour cream with 1 packet of dry ranch seasoning mix. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Prepare Tomatoes: Drain the can of Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies to remove excess liquid, then fold the tomatoes gently into the sour cream and ranch mixture.
- Add Cheese and Bacon: Stir in 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese along with the crumbled bacon until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Add Toppings: Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of chopped green onions and 1 tablespoon of chopped jalapeños over the top of the dip to add fresh flavor and a hint of spice.
- Chill the Dip: Cover the bowl tightly and refrigerate for at least 60 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the dip to thicken slightly before serving.
Notes
- Substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream to reduce fat content and lighten the dip.
- Use homemade ranch seasoning mix to control sodium and preservative levels.
- To make it vegetarian, omit bacon or use vegetarian bacon bits.
- Adjust jalapeño quantity based on your preferred spice level or omit for a milder dip.
- Serve chilled with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh vegetable sticks.
